JULY 13th – Cardboard steam trains

Participants will be crafting a train out of cardboard, paper, bottle caps and string. Fairbairn staff will assist participants in creating their own Wakefield steam train, which they will get to bring home. This

workshop will take 1 hour.

JULY 15th – NATURAL DYES

Participants will be going on a trail behind the Fairbairn house to pick their own flowers, which will be used to dye their white article of clothing.

*Please bring your own white cotton article of clothing to dye

JULY 20th – BEESWAX CANDLE MAKING

Participants will learn how to role beeswax sheets together to make a candle, which they can take home.

JULY 22ND – PAPER BASKET MAKING

Participants will be weaving paper strips together to make a basket, that they can take home, with the help of the Fairbairn staff.

JULY 27th – PAPER QUILT MAKING

Participants will emulate a quilt design using paper, and can either take it home or work together to create a large ‘quilt’.

JULY 29th – ICE CREAM MAKING

Participants will help create a batch of ice cream using a vintage ice cream machine, like those used in the 1800’s, which will be served to the participants.

AUGUST 3RD – PAPER MARIONNET MAKING

Participants will be creating and taking home paper marionettes by cutting body shapes  themselves or use ones pre cut by the Fairbairn staff.

AUGUST 5th – BEESWAX CANDLE DIPPING

Participants will be dipping bees wax to create a candle. Parents should be present with their children ages 8 or younger, since the wax will be very hot. Participants can take the candles home.

AUGUST 10th – BRACELET MAKING

Participants will learn to make friendship bracelets with string, which they can then take home.
